Zofran

Ondansetron, or commonly known as zofran, belongs to a class of drugs known as serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonists. It works by blocking the action of serotonin, a natural substance that may cause nausea and vomiting, at the 5-HT3 receptors in the brain and gastrointestinal tract. By inhibiting these receptors, ondansetron effectively reduces the incidence of nausea and vomiting. When given Intravenously, the benefits are usually seen rapidly.
